Stylish Outdoor Showers for Small Urban Spaces Too

Part of the growing trend toward extending interior living spaces to the outside,  we are seeing more outdoor showers and baths even in urban settings. At yesterday’s Architectural Digest Home Show I spotted a few modern outdoor showers and enclosures that were dripping with style, perfect for any urban outdoor setting. What distinguishes the new designs is their flexibility, adaptability, and ease of assembly.

Oborain Modern Prefab Outdoor Shower
American company Oborain’s contemporary prefab shower enclosures were a show standout. The modular pre-assembled panels arrive flat-packed so the shower is easily delivered via freight elevator or navigated through tight apartment hallways.

Then it gets even simpler: the Oborain can be assembled or disassembled on site in less than an hour then plumbed with an ordinary garden hose (or with permanent water line if you prefer.) An integrated thermostatic valve delivers consistent water temperature while also providing scald-protection so no worries about shivering while you get the water just right.

Small Space Design
Built by hand from durable hardwoods and stainless steel, Oberain’s modular design allows city dwellers to create the outdoor showering area that fits their particular space. Even the smallest of outdoor spaces can accommodate the Oborain Solo (42 x 42 x 86) and the Piccolo measures in at a mere 38 x 38 x 86. Renter? No problem–you can disassemble the shower and take it with you when you move.

JEE-O Freestanding Outdoor Showers
I was smitten by Dutch company JEE-O’s outdoor showers which debuted yesterday in the US. Owner/Designer Lammert Moerman demonstrated his new line of ultra streamlined Izi-go and Fatline models whose stainless steel and teak make them as good looking as they are functional.

A sleek design feature on many models is the large ring which regulates the water flow and temperature.

In Europe there is a heated version one can leave outdoors even in subzero weather, but until that model arrives in America, all one has to do is remove 2 screws and lift out the shower for easy winter storage.

Stay tuned for our exciting upcoming indoor/outdoor spa sanctuary feature and Pinterest contest. You’ll have a chance to win a Mr. Steam freestanding towel warmer!
