Flock Houses for Fine Feathered Friends

February 17, 2011 by

Birds will break and enter here for a bit of seed. Dennis Nino Clasen invokes a sense of humor in his bird house designs. The BirdAlarm, which the designer calls, “the latest product in green home security,” is a birdhouse for Titmice and Nuthatches resembling a burglar alarm. Painted and impregnated plywood, acrylic paint, supplied with galvanised hook and screws. Dimensions: W 140 x D 140 x H 300 mm.

Birds can perch by the entrance or pick the feed dangling from the bottom of this cuckoo clock-inspired bird house. Apart from real birdsongs, Kuckuck, 5 to 12! creates a habitat for singing bird species. The time, five minutes to twelve, is meant to remind us that time is running out so we must support mother nature. Painted and impregnated plywood, acrylic paint, supplied with galvanized hook and screws. Dimensions: W 270 x D 160 x H 370 mm.

Puts a new twist on environmental security. The birds are under surveillance with this faux camera bird house. Painted and impregnated plywood, acrylic paint, aluminium sheet, galvanized screws and aluminium holder. Dimensions: W 155 x D 310 x H 142 mm.

A handmade birdhouse in the style of a retro caravan…keeps the birds travelling.

Many of Clasen’s bird houses are available at Friesland.

What a clever little houses. Love the first with the red “hat” – looks like a fez – all it needs is a tassle!!

Hmm, the faux camera bird house just might deter uncivil behavior; a bit of a panopticon effect.

I really like the retro caravan one…too cute! I also really like the camera one. That is actually a great idea. I will have to say my favorite is the caravan though. Just something about that retro look!
