Digging This Garden Furniture

March 12, 2012 by

Ok, let’s call a spade a table. Using aluminium, pop rivets, hose clamps, and found spades, Stockholm designer Fredrik Paulsen has created the Garden Table.

Garden tools are also inspiration to Dutch designer Nic Roex in the form of his Bats Stools for which Roex employs a spade for the seat atop a concrete or mahogany base.

The Batsen (means spades in Dutch), below, is a bench created from multiple spades held together with an intricate metal frame.

Awesome use of a shovel! I think I will use that idea to add more space to my raised bed garden. The self could hold containers full of fresh herbs. Thanks for the idea.
