Ideas That Grow on Trees

This designer’s ideas grow on–or out of trees. Vancouver woodworker and designer, Gregory Kenny of Kilowatt Studio, has created two designs inspired from trees:

Appropriately named, Tree, the designer explains is inspired by the ubiquitous condos of his adopted city and it’s lush surroundings. Tree is the ideal perch for the urban bird. Individually hand crafted in Canada from steel and an assortment of reclaimed hardwoods. I’m a tad disappointed the tree stump not included as that’s really, for me, what makes the whole thing work. I guess you could find your own stump?

Nest is inspired by the intertwining branches of a bird’s nest. This stylish bed is the perfect hideaway, inspired by birds, built for cats (or a little dog.) Individually hand crafted in Canada from wool, bamboo and organic cotton. Measures: 63cm x 43cm x23cm, (approximately 24” x 17” x 8.5”) A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these beds goes to the Vancouver Orphaned Kitten Rescue Association.
