New Angles: Plateau Facet and Skew Tables

January 4, 2012 by

We’re back with more sustainable indoor-outdoor furniture from the Plateau line of furniture from Brooklyn-based Desu Design and Material Process Systems.

Inspired in part by military aircraft, the interplay of angled lines and beveled edges creates, according to the designers, a sense of flight in the Facet Dining Table. The generously proportioned indoor/outdoor dining table features an smooth table top with gracefully bowed edges.

Designed to be a sculptural form of intersecting angular planes, the Skew tables, below, draw their  inspiration from geological rock formations.

The Skew and Facet furniture is made from 1.5″ thick slabs of certified renewable cellulose fiber and resin, with black powder coated stainless steel.

I can see the military element in the 2nd photo — it’s as if designers crossed a Zen garden with an aircraft carrier, to create an outdoor dining table. Really striking and new! Great way to welcome the new year! Cheers!
