Life’s a Bench, of Concrete
August 30, 2011 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
Block is an outdoor modular seating system consisting of a concrete base and two laser cut steel modules available in any color or in plain Corten steel.
Designed by architects Marco Lana and Alberto Savettiere of the Italian firm Lana + Savettiere, Block may be positioned in a variety of configurations to become a combination of planter, table, and seating, becoming creative group seating for public spaces.
Block was selected at the international competition, SUN.LAB For a Creative Outdoor 2011, and will be debuted October 20-22, 2011 at SUN, the international outdoor exhibition in Rimini, Italy. SUN.LAB is a free space for research and experimentation organized by SUN to bring to the surface new ideas, innovative design skills, and new ways of designing for outdoor living.
