Hungry? Look Outside the Fridge

February 17, 2010 by

Swedish Designer Hanna Sandström has teamed up with Green Fortune and Whirlpool to create a mini hydroponic fridge kitchen garden. Huh? That’s what I said. The claim is that by providing light, temperature, space, moisture, nutrition, and water, the fridge-cum-kitchen garden will assist you in producing homegrown herbs and, I guess, small greens. The designer says all you have to do is place your store-bought herb plants or, if more adventurous, your seeds in the container, add some stones around it to hold them in place, voilà! You should have greens growing in no time. Maybe it’s just the seed of an idea, but I’m intrigued.
