Brush Up on Your Seating

The Big Scrubber is the brainchild of Ben Baker, a talented post graduate student who studied furniture design at Bucks New University in the UK.

Ben says, “Occasionally we have items around us that can get taken for granted and overlooked, even though they may be more precious and better designed than the bigger, bolder things. A tampico brush for example. The design of a good brush should be practical, logical and imaginative, as all good design should be. I also hope the Big Scrubber will become a trusted, reliable, old friend, only needing an occasional coat of linseed oil, kinda like an old cricket bat.”

Ben’s success with the Big Scrubber is in part due to his choice of materials. He wanted wood that would be appropriate for a huge brush but also be practical for indoor and outdoor use.  He settled on a top made from Enlish ash and bristles made from willow canes.
