One of my favorite Brooklyn artisan-makers is the collaborative design studio, Autumn Workshop, whose Scrap Ecology lighting we featured a while back. The studio creates a variety of lighting that derives its inspiration from biophiliathe natural connection between human beings and other living systems.

We love their new hanging garden lamps, planted lighting in which a suspended planter is illuminated with a strip of LED’s placed in the top.

Made from woods like reclaimed teak and blackened steel, it’s a planter box to which they’ve added a top with lighting turning it into a combination planter and pendant lamp that can be made in various lengths to fit the size of the room and which one can view from all sides.

Autumn Workshop designs furniture and other products using readily available materials, building them from reclaimed, found, or scrap materials with which they integrate botanical and ecological components–an idea they believe will promote positive energy and healthy living in our constructed environment.
