Artist Cal Lane wields her welder’s torch into steel objects like wheelbarrows and shovels, cutting into them delicate and intricate lace patterns transforming the once utilitarian tools into works of art.

Living on a Putnam, NY property belonging to one of her collectors, Lane has also in her spare time exercised another kind of creativity–painting the house, installing a koi pond, and planting an herb garden.
