Architecturally Informed Indoor Outdoor Art Furniture

January 19, 2012 by

Only a single Lodge Chair, above, has been produced.

We love wire these days. Salvadorian artist Baltasar Portillo sculpts together powder coated wrought iron to form this collection of indoor-outdoor “art” furniture.

Portillo’s series of Armadillo and Lodge chairs are architectural in form, calling to mind a spanning bridge that enhances a view without blocking it.

Inspired by organic forms, the airy and light metal work fuses functional sculpture and linear form. The open design enables the chairs to be part of their surrounding environment, framing the particular landscape in a novel way.

Available at Outdoorz Gallery.

Definitely a unique design. You would have to have a certain garden design to use this.
