Urban Gardens in the Privacy of Your Bedroom
May 14, 2010 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
Located at the intersection of fairy tale and surrealism, the new Milan hotel Maison Moschino brings nature indoors to guest rooms with names like Life is a Bed of Roses, Forest, and Ivy.
The hotel’s creative team, led by creative director Rossella Jardini (oddly, the Italian “giardini” translates as “gardens” in English) have interpreted the interiors in the Moschino style. On the ground floor, the restaurant Clandestino Milano extends from the hall outside to the terrace, linking the interior with the exterior.
The common thread connecting the rooms, according to the designers, is “a fairy tale theme because to sleep is perchance to dream, and dreams are fairy tales that we are allowed to experience first hand, the fables of a fantasy world that we have created. This is an alternate life in which we direct and stage the scripts of our very own play.”
