DoLeaf is a new central online marketplace where gardeners can connect with growers and small garden retailers around the nation. They offer a wide variety of unique plants that are perfect for small spaces and balcony living, as well as a number of plants for container gardening such as small banana trees, cacti, and even veggies that will flourish on an apartment windowsill.
At DoLeaf, gardeners can quickly sort through plants based on categories (fruit bearing, heirloom, organic, annuals, etc.), sun and water requirements, growth rate, and shipping method. DoLeaf enables the urban gardener, who may live far from the farms, to get out of the big box stores and stay connected to the land by supporting smaller independent retailers and family-owned establishments such as Krieger’s, run by Andy Krieger; The Wilham’s farm, run by the Wilham’s family; and Green Sunshine, run by Hedy and her nephew.
The Herb Assortment includes 3 live culinary herbs (Sweet Basil, Oregano, Sage, Thyme, Chives, Parsley, Savory, Mint or Marjoram) but what gets shipped depends upon what’s freshest at the time of your order. Dish gardens are a cool way of putting a tiny garden right on your coffee table. For the urban gardener, DoLeaf offers a selection of tomatoes that would do well in either in a large pot or even in a community garden.
Frustrated by the offerings of the big box stores in his hometown of Atlanta, Micah Wedemeyer, co-founder of DoLeaf, began a search for online plant retailers. He found hundreds of independent nurseries around the country, but most of them had outdated websites with no way of ordering other than by phone. DoLeaf was born after Wedemeyer and his partners visited community gardens, farmers’ markets and plant swaps, and realized there were a great number of great growers who lacked the time and technical expertise to connect with people online.

Thanks for the write up!
A lot of these family-owned, family-operated nurseries have been hit hard by the recession, and we thought that through DoLeaf we might be able to help them break into new markets online. At the very least, we get access to some great and unique specimens from around the country. So far, we’ve been our own best customer!

We appreciate the review of DoLeaf! We’re adding new stores and plants every day so we hope you’ll come back and check out the growing selection. On Monday a new store specializing in heirloom herbs and veggies will launch — look for Tulip Tree Hill Farm of Lancaster County, PA
